My Music: Nerina Pallot

November 8, 2006 · 1 Comment

I like Nerina Pallot’s song Sophia from the first listen although I couldn’t quite make out the words from the chorus. I thought she was singing “So fire, so fire” instead of “Sophia, Sophia.” This made it quite a challenge to search for artist info and song lyrics.

Nerina Pallot official website.

Sophia, Sophia, I’m burning, I’m burning.
It’s a fire, it’s a fire, I cannot put out,
Sophia, Sophia, I’m learning that some things,
I can’t go without and one of of them is him.

My Music: hellogoodbye

Nothing perks me up than upbeat music. These days, I can’t get enough of Here In Your Arms by hellogoodbye. Googled the band and found them at Wikipedia and Myspace. Check out the band’s official website and Myspace to listen to some of their songs and of course, know more about the band.

I like where we are,
When we drive, in your car
I like where we are…. Here
Cause our lips, can touch
And our cheeks, can brush
Our lips can touch here
Where you are the one, the one that lies close to me
Whisper’s “Hello, I’ve missed you quite terribly”
I fell in love, in love with you suddenly
Now there’s no place else I could be but here in your arms

My Music: Craig David

October 17, 2006 · No Comments

I am not much of an R&B fan. In fact, I made a point to not really listen to it a few years back. Until Maryann encouraged me to keep an open mind so I listened to some songs considered R&B. Then a few years ago, Iris went bonkers over Craig David. I guess it is safe to say, so did the whole world. I like his voice and I like the beat of some of his songs. Does this make me an R&B convert? Not quite. I can only listen to R&B for a couple of minutes and you can be sure I will be ready to scream my head off from sheer boredom. Tonight, though, I feel like listening to Craig David and I was lucky enough to have gotten hold of a best of compilation. It is good background music as I lay in bed with Robert Jordan’s The Rising Shadow.

Anatomy Of A Thursday Morning

July 6, 2006 · 1 Comment

Fun read. I didn’t get enough sleep last night for reasons I don’t know. I had fun reading Neil Gaiman’s Smoke and Mirrors, though. That could be it. I just started the book; it is refreshing to read the Introduction where the author gives a backgrounder on each of the story. What particularly makes this a fun read is how you get a glimpse of where or how the author got the idea for a certain story. Knowing that it took him four years to write an erotic SF story is hilarious. Why? Go get a copy of the book and find out for yourself.

Off to a good start. My alarm went off at 4:30am and, bleary-eyed, I hit the snooze button. I must have been out of my mind to set the darn thing for that time. I got out of bed at 5:30am because JC and I had agreed to talk at 6am and I had to be at work early. My internet connection sucked, though. It was so slow it would time out. After numerous tries, it came through for me at about a quarter to 7am. Despite the lack of sleep and finding out Portugal lost to France in the semis, I had a good morning. I got to the office at a few minutes after 8am and got to work; Y101 tripping all the way with fellow music junkie Maryann, who was a city and three jeepney rides away.

Cute artwork. Tuesday night, I had dinner at Kahayag. Chorizo rice and spicy chicken wings tasted so good after a few months of not having gone back there for a bite. There were some artists’ works hanging from the walls and I recognized one name, Michael Dizon. His artwork, Hamfest, is so cute!! Michael was online this morning and I congratulated him for this piece. He shared this link; said it is the first character design for a product game for his former company. I can only say I envy artists and what they can do using any media. I can’t draw a stick figure to save my life!

Song of the moment. Dakota by Stereophonics.
Thinking about thinking of you
Summertime think it was June
Yeah think it was June
Laying back, head on the grass
Children grown having some laughs
Yeah having some laughs.

Yep, some mornings start out great and the day turns out to be more than A-Okay. :D
