School’s Out… and so is traffic!

Posted on: December 20, 2006

School’s out and it means Auf Weidersehen to mean, obnoxious traffic snarls. Going to and from work is such a breeze – I am back to 10-15 minute rides either way. Living in and working from a place that does not have a mall in between them is a sure plus. This is the only time when going to and from malls or any place with Bazaar signs – whether streamer, neon lights, dancing lights or plain old cardboard with the words Ukay-Ukay – is like waiting for judgment day. You never feel ready for the lack of taxis, the onslaught of people or the long snake-like lines. It’s a mad scramble to get a ride home or to wherever you are headed, you find yourself thinking of just three words: car. necessity. please. Everybody is out shopping. Yet we say we don’t have the finances to shop ’til Santa screams himself hoarse with the ho-ho-ho’s. Yet, waiting in line, you see almost everyone has a bag – and not just a gigantic one, mind, but several in all shapes, sizes and colors, with or without the brand names. Oh well, tis the season for commercialism (sic). Can you blame me for not getting into the spirit just yet?

You only live a few hundred meters from the office…still worried about traffic?

Sitting on a stalled jeepney and then have it move centimeter by centimeter is no fun.

Walking is the best exercise.” po. 😛

At least it’s centimeters. The jeepneys I’m on these days move by pixels!

You need to spend some time away from the computer.
